I think it would be the time a ESL student came in and I noticed that there were no articles at all in his paper, so I asked him whether he was familiar with how articles worked in English. He looked confused and then answered "this paper isnt meant to be published!" After I finally explained to him what an article was there are no separate articles in his native language, we both had a good laugh together.
