Scheduling and Hours
The Writing Center’s available consultation hours are set forth through the online scheduler. Face-to-face consultation is more efficient and effective than online consultation, but we will offer a limited range of online consultation times.
The following assumes you’ve read the policy page.
To make an appointment, use the online scheduler. Registration is once and quick. Log on, and you’ll see an array of times and days. White spaces are available. Blue spaces are not. Find the available space that works for you. Click on it. An appointment form will appear.
Fill in the form. Note the consultant’s name and email. That will be important for online consultations. If the consultation is required for a class, make sure you put in the instructor’s correct email and select “Yes” for “Notify Instructor?” When you do that, the consultant will send a copy of the post-consultation report to the instructor.
For face-to-face consultations, show up (PML 107) at the appointed time.
For online consultations, you’ll use the appointment form to select the way you connect with your consultant. Regardless, share your writing* with your consultant. Your consultant will either chat with you through the Google doc or will Zoom/Hangouts with you, depending on what you chose (keep your Truman email open at hand).
*You may be brainstorming and have nothing yet written. No problem. Let the consultant know in the “Concerns” box. We recommend combining Zoom/Hangouts with a blank Google doc for brainstorming sessions. Using just chat for brainstorming is fairly inefficient.
